Alive, breathing and still bemused

March 24, 2012

For being so tech savvy, these cats sure do find ways to use it to beat themselves into a pulp. Think Monty Python Black Knight who – once an arm gets cut off proceeds to beat himself over the head with it.

WSJ:

When Jeff Rae was arrested last October with hundreds of other Occupy Wall Street protesters during a march on the Brooklyn Bridge, he decided to fight the charges, believing he had been entrapped.

On Monday, Mr. Rae changed his mind and accepted a plea agreement with Manhattan prosecutors. Why? The district attorney’s office had subpoenaed his Twitter account, raising the stakes in what he had thought would be a speedy case he could win, he said

….the money quote: These people may be tech-savvy, but they’re so street-dumb that it apparently didn’t occur to them not to post incriminating statements all over the Internet

They also thought it would be smart to foul up a bank lobby – all conveniently caught on camera (smile and wave to mom kiddies!)

Love this one: apparently the Obama campaign thinks the public’s memory is mighty short

One list from a really quick scan

  •  book published by New York Times reporter Janny Scott uncovered an uncomfortable fact about President Obama: He had been lying about his mother’s health insurance problems
  • Obama wasn’t in Cushing because he has approved so much new pipeline. He was there because he is facing bipartisan opposition, in Congress and across the country, for blocking the proposed Keystone XL pipeline …”He’s out in Oklahoma trying to take credit for a part of the pipeline that doesn’t even require his approval,” said House Speaker John Boehner.
  • The freedom Ryan touts is the freedom of the jungle. One of the hallmarks of a civilized society is its capacity to care for the least fortunate of its members. Ryan, and other Republicans, regularly decry such care as “a culture of dependency.” Of course, as believers, we understand that we are all well advised to bask in a culture of dependency “. Jeesh that’s a rather “liberal” interpretation (pun intended)

Uh, on that last one btw: I wonder if he ever read this snippet (from the Bible): 2 Thessalonians 3:10 – “even while we were with you we gave you this command: “those who are unwilling to work will not get to eat”
