Glad you could catch up there….

November 17, 2011

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I saw this headline at The Economist:

REALLY?!?

Seriously, when the guy’s lost the European press who fell all over themselves when they thought they saw an enlightened, kindred soul in this President…. no wonder he’s trying every Chicago pol approach to re-election. This time he’s punting on a decision to build an oil pipeline in hopes of being ambivalent enough the greens vote him in again.

All this, said the State Department, which has pondered the pipeline’s merits since 2008, would necessitate an extra 15 months’ review to consider alternative routes. That is tremendously convenient for Mr Obama.

He has offended environmentalists during his time in office by failing to push through a cap-and-trade scheme for greenhouse gases, as he had promised on the campaign trail, and more recently by delaying new rules to reduce smog

Wow, you don’t say? He wouldn’t intentionally delay a decision past the election, right?

The headline now reads “Keystone cop out” — did they change it?

Keith the link on their top page yesterday was “Barak Obama annoys everyone” – it looks like they use different link titles at the top page than the actual article titles….

Barack Obama annoys everyone. this should read
    Barack Obama really annoys everyone
that’s better, a more positive, declarative statement

Canada won’t. They’ll happily sell oil to the China if they get a good deal. That said, it’s likely that they’ll let us dither and then just charge more.

If I wasn’t expecting the letdown, i’d be amused. Greens don’t like any energy that’s actually plentiful, and I can’t see the president demotivating that particular base for next year.
