What’s even worse than disagreeing with them…

April 25, 2011

is being proven right by the outcome of the events and history – from Hot Air

the Wall Street Journal’s pages could barely contain their derision for Palin’s warning of inflation impacting food prices and eroding consumer buying power just when they were most needed for economic recovery…

Wednesday Mr. Bernanke will break tradition and meet with the press. It is part of the Fed’s effort to get ahead of what is emerging as a public relations catastrophe, as gasoline is nearing six dollars a gallon at some pumps, the cost of groceries is skyrocketing, and the value of the dollars that Mr. Bernanke’s institution issues as Federal Reserve notes has collapsed to less than a 1,500th of an ounce of gold. Unemployment is still high. Shakespeare couldn’t come up with a better plot. But how in the world did Mrs. Palin, who is supposed to be so thick, manage to figure all this out so far ahead of the New York Times and all the economists it talked to?

Yeah – unrelated to Palin’s blog/press, I made a similar assessment.

Let’s take a walk back in memory lane.

Pot notices kettle whistling

The economists have been puzzled and mystified as to the QE2 went off so poorly in terms of relationships with friendly countries….

…HINT: “Ted Truman, a former Clinton administration Treasury official, said the Fed clearly wasn’t intending to drive down the dollar, which it could have done in more effective ways.”

That’s what worries me -It wasn’t supposed to work that way. It’s almost as if they don’t know how the finer things in life they enjoy came into existence – how excess production (i.e. TOO MUCH PROFIT) results in overall wealth and increases in leisure for all…. I could recommend a great book “Guns, Germs and Steel” or perhaps the VDH article here….

Either way, there seem to be plenty of “oops, sorry – didn’t mean to tread on your toes,” and “hey, that wasn’t supposed to happen,” or “ZOINKS!”

I can’t wait to see how pissy the press and WH and administration are going to be now that – much to their chagrin – Palin managed to figure something out from podunk Alaska. Maybe that Ivy League education isn’t so ‘real world’ after all….

Just goes to show “common sense isn’t”. Golly gee, drilling in the US has been curtailed and much of the midwest has been converted to growing corn for Ethanol and somehow food and fuel prices aren’t going to rise? Seriously??

Obama’s Energy Secretary, Steven Chu told the WSJ in 2008 that “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” Just goes to show that just because you are a Nobel laureate doesn’t mean you understand the economic repercussions as this becomes reality.
