The disdainful rally to restore the inane to its rightful place of utter pointlessness

November 2, 2010

Not sure who said it, but the Stewart/Colbert rally is a lot like post modern philosophy. It attempts to destroy everything that doesn’t carry its mocking, cynical view on the nature of everything but itself; and in the process leaves itself with nothing to say of any value – if there were any words left with which they could say anything at all.

Take a look at these links if you want to waste your time – a bunch of veritable Postmodern Shakesperes. Medialite, NoOneofImport/Midnight Blue

Sound and slight annoyance, signifying nothing, repeating what people reputed to be intelligent tell me is smart to think – assuming what I just said had any meaning at all.

It’s really sad when the best the self proclaimed intelligent can do is attempt to mock people for being passionate about something other than passionately mocking those who are passionate – while saying absolutely nothing of any value whatsoever.

Please – as an introvert, if this is the best you can do – zip it or get some gumption to be passionate about something intelligible besides “uh, we’re sane because we’re at a rally about restoring sanity.”

Oh, never mind. It’s a bunch of baby boomer holdovers (sorry mom & dad).

Well I feel better…maybe it’s the Berkely boomers? When I look at the views of the “rally to restore sanity” it looks like a 50-50 split between ‘wannabe intellegensia fanboy’ and ‘relive my golden memories of the Woodstock era’ boomers…
I’ve also wondered if a lot of the boomers who were there are really attempting to leave their working class roots behind by self identifying with the intellectuals they studied under…

You should take a look at the demographics again. The GOP taking control of the House was attributed to more people 65+ turning out to vote and voting for conservatives. The other change is a smaller number of voters age 18-29 turned out and a larger percentage of those are no longer drinking the liberal “K00l Aid”.

Perhaps it is true that the boomers you know are all democrats, but the “boomers” I know are by and large mostly conservative, but then again many of them are ex or retired military – not the ones protesting the Vietnam war. By the way according to a UPI report, 42% of conservatives are 55 and older, compared to 27% aged 18-34.
