This is like Daffy Duck in the cave of the thieves….

The UK’s tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employees by bank transfer.

HMRC described the plan as “radical” as it would be a huge change from the current system that has been largely unchanged for 66 years.

Gee, ya think?

Oh, here is the laffer

Krugman (yes, I confess. I read his stuff to laugh. Sorry)

..the angry minority is angry indeed, consisting of people who feel that things to which they are entitled are being taken away. And they’re out for revenge…

And among the undeniably rich, a belligerent sense of entitlement has taken hold: it’s their money, and they have the right to keep it.

Heaven forbid! Actually – as a pastor once pointed out to me “…in the Old Testament GOD asked for only 10%…” It was the Romans who made it a sport to rustle around your loose change for everything you had at the time.

I wonder if Krugman would start out by giving 100% of his salary and earnings to the Obama administration and tell them “give me back whatever you think I need to live on”. That would certainly be a generous gesture of faith, no?

Yeah, I don’t think so either
