Like a 3 year old with nitroglycerin

Sort of like the antagonists in the first “Raiders of the Lost Ark” movie, they just HAVE to open up what they really don’t respect or understand because it appears to be a convenient powerful tool to manipulate in accomplishing their ends:

Obama: “I believe in country that rewards hard work and responsibility, a country where we look after one another, a country where I say I’m my brother’s keeper, I’m my sister’s keeper.”

Right. That particular quote is pulled from the story of Cain & Abel – you know, Cain killed his brother Abel & buried the body in a field because Cain was envious to the point of bloodlust revenge over God accepting the sacrifice of Abel. “Am I my brothers’ keeper” is the question Cain asks God when God asks him “where is your brother Abel?” (clearly knowing exactly what happened). Did Obama not know that when he used it as an example of what we SHOULD do - or was he hoping we didn’t?

Why does he skip over these particular scriptures?

2Thessalonians 3:10: For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”

[the auto bailout and ignoring rule of law in structured bankrupcies] were moral policies, saving people’s jobs is a moral policy,” Professor Schneck said in the web ad..

Luke 12:13-15: Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 1⁴ Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” ¹⁵ Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Hmmm – these Catholic bishops, certainly don’t think so…

…the folks who organized getting the ad together want to ensure everybody understands what’s at stake not only for the Church, but for the country, when religious liberty is compromised.”…religious liberty faces “an unprecedented threat” from the HHS mandate, which “undermines the promise of the First Amendment.”

A book I read recently “Explicit Gospel” by Matt Chandler had a point about mishandling the gospel, and how it’s a dangerous thing to play with, since you either turn to it & do something about the hearing of it-  or – the more you hear it, the more hardened you become against it. In other words, you’re better off NOT handling scripture at all than you are mishandling it regularly - like a 3 year old with nitro in their hands going down a playground slide.
